Lydia Shulgina (1957-2000) was born in Moscow to the family of known writers. She has finished the Moscow Art school and the Moscow Polygraph Institute (the Faculty of decorating of books).
Books with Shulgina’s illustrations were published in Russia, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Finland and Japan. She has issued more than 30 books, among which are books by Lewis Carroll, A. Milne, B. Zakhoder, S. Kozlov, etc. Lydia was the Winner of numerous awards for the best books design. Since 1985 she was actively engaged in painting, especially iconographic scenes.
In the years of Perestroika she experimented with techniques – reliefs, sculptures, collages. In 1990 Lydia has immigrated to Europe. A variety of techniques and innovative methods in Lydia Shulgina's products are combined with tradition. Lydia was a member of the Unions of Artists of Russia, Germany and the International Association of Artists. Her works are exhibited in the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Literary museum and other Galleries in Russia, Germany, and the USA.
